Soldier Hollow World Cup Recap: Martina Berta Goes Back-to-Back
The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series made its debut at Soldier Hollow, Utah, September 19–20, bringing the world's fastest cross-country racers to the Wasatch Mountains for the penultimate round of the 2026 season. For TRP, this one hit a little closer to home.
With our U.S. headquarters just up the road in Ogden, having the World Cup arrive in Utah was an incredible opportunity to support our athletes, connect with the racing community, and experience World Cup racing right in our own backyard.
Equipped with TRP EVO X brakes and EVO 12 drivetrain, riders from Origine Racing Division and KMC Nukeproof MTB Racing Team delivered an incredible weekend of results across both XCC and XCO disciplines.
Martina Berta: Two Races, Two Victories
The Origine Racing Division rider came into Soldier Hollow carrying serious momentum after her recent World Cup and World Championship performances, and she wasted no time making her presence known.
Saturday's XCC race saw Berta launch a decisive attack on the penultimate lap, breaking away from the field to secure her first elite XCC World Cup victory. The win also made her the first Italian rider to claim a UCI XCC World Cup victory.
But she wasn't finished.
Returning for Sunday's XCO race, Berta once again found herself battling at the front. A powerful final-lap attack gave her the advantage she needed, crossing the finish line 13 seconds ahead of Gwendalyn Gibson to complete a perfect World Cup weekend.
Mathis Azzaro: Fighting at the Front
Mathis Azzaro continued his strong 2026 campaign with another consistent weekend at the sharp end of elite men's racing. Saturday's XCC was an all-out battle, with the front group separated by mere seconds. Azzaro crossed the line in fourth, just one second behind race winner Sam Gaze.
Returning for Sunday's XCO, Mathis once again mixed it up with the world's best, finishing fifth and just 15 seconds off the winning pace.
Two races, two top-five finishes, and another strong showing for Origine Racing Division.
Naël Rouffiac Adds Another World Cup Podium
Fresh off claiming the U23 XCO World Championship title in Val di Sole, Naël Rouffiac arrived in Utah wearing the rainbow stripes and ready for another battle.
After finishing sixth in Saturday's short track, Rouffiac returned for Sunday's XCO and powered his way to second place, adding another World Cup podium to an already impressive season.
The young French rider continues to make his mark on the international XC scene, and we're excited to be part of the journey.
KMC Nukeproof Joins the Podium Party
Our KMC Nukeproof MTB Racing Team riders were also in action throughout the weekend, with Bloeme Kalis delivering a standout performance in the U23 women's short track.
In a tightly contested race that came down to the final sprint, Kalis secured third place, crossing the line just one second behind the winner.
Another World Cup podium for a TRP-equipped athlete and a strong addition to an already successful weekend in Utah.

From Deer Valley's US Open downhill racing to Soldier Hollow's World Cup XC action, Utah has been delivering some incredible moments for mountain biking this September. For the TRP crew, having two major international events so close to our U.S. headquarters has made this stretch of the season particularly special.
